The second quarter in brief:
- The Group’s net sales for the period totaled EUR 184 million (171) and operating profit was EUR 6.4 million (2.4).
- 94 percent of freight trains arrived at the customer within the promised hour, an improvement of 2 percentage points compared to the rolling 12-month average.
- General increase of freight volumes for Green Cargo. Compared to the previous year, traffic for ScandFibre Logistics and Green Cargo’s intermodal traffic to and from locations in Germany contributed the most to the increase.
- The Group signed new agreements worth approximately EUR 100 million, including a renewed 5-year contract with AFAB for aircraft fuel transports and renewed or expanded contracts with CargoNet, Dagab, Eka Chemicals, Trätåg, Rexam and ST1 Energy.
- Green Cargo Logistics signed a 5-year logistics contract for fashion chain KappAhl’s stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland and the Czech Republic.
The Group’s sales during the first half of the year totaled EUR 359 million (333) and operating profit was EUR 3.3 million, an improvement of EUR 12.9 million. Both traffic safety and punctuality increased in the second quarter.
“It is with a strong base of safety and quality that we become profitable and this is clearly evident during the second quarter. The combination of a more efficient organization and strong product offers are the drivers behind the rise in profits,” says Green Cargo CEO Mikael Stöhr.
Green Cargo’s third-party logistics continue to expand profitably and Green Cargo is now Sweden’s second largest third-party logistics provider. Yet another contract with a large wine importer elevates our subsidiary to the position of market leader for third-party logistics in the wine/alcohol segment.
“New agreements valuing approximately EUR 100 million are naturally a reason to celebrate, but the turbulence on the financial market injects a dose of uncertainty about the future. However, it is impossible to say at this moment what this may entail for us and our customers. We are following the developments very closely in order to be able to quickly adjust to changes, if needed,” says Mikael Stöhr.
