Positive quarter and finely honed organization

The Group's earnings after financial items in the third quarter were EUR 5,6 million (EUR 6,2 million). The major loss that Green Cargo experienced in connection with the winter’s freight yard closures affects the accumulated earnings by EUR -3,0 million (EUR -20,6 million).

The volumes have increased in all industries with the exception of the forest industry and, at short notice during the quarter, Green Cargo introduced an additional train a week for Volvo Logistics. During the quarter, Green Cargo Logistics initiated activities for the customer TOMP Beer & Spirits.

“It’s greatly satisfying to be profitable for the second quarter in succession, but it’s also important to mention that we still have a fair way to go until we reach the level required in order to handle our future investments and owner requirements,” says Green Cargo’s CEO Mikael Stöhr.

A new agreement has been signed with Cargonet, worth over EUR 21 million a year and ERS Railways has signed an agreement on the provision of traction for trains between Gothenburg and Gävle.

A new organization has been developed and implemented in the third quarter. The aim is to have an organization that works closer with our customers and that can implement changes and develop our offering quicker.

“The basic idea in the new organization is that it should be easier to be a customer and employee of Green Cargo. We’re concentrating on rail and truck transports and are integrating our subsidiary TGOJ at the end of the year. Our successful third-party logistics can continue to grow as a subsidiary,” says Mikael Stöhr.

The trucking operation will be sold and cooperation with approximately 200 external hauliers developed.

The third quarter in brief:

  • Green Cargo creates a simpler organization with increased efficiency
  • A very broad customer survey lays the foundations for a renewed range of services that is currently being developed
  • Green Cargo’s intermodal shuttles to and from Germany have new volumes as the logistics service provider Ewals Cargo Care has now signed an agreement with Green Cargo
