Update 2: Swedish Dockworkers Union strike in Swedish ports

The Swedish Dockworkers Union (Svenska Hamnarbetarförbundet) has issued a strike notice that may impact Green Cargo’s rail transports to and from Swedish ports

The Swedish Transport Workers’ Union (Transportarbetarförbundet) had also issued a strike notice. However, on Tuesday evening, an agreement was reached between Transport and Ports of Sweden (Sveriges Hamnar) regarding a new collective bargaining agreement. As a result, Transport has withdrawn its strike notice, and no industrial action will be taken by that union.

The Swedish Dockworkers Union has announced a general strike in all Swedish ports

  • Gothenburg Roro Terminal: Strike all members from Sunday 1 June at 16:00 to Monday 2 June at 23:00 and Tuesday 3 June 06:00 to 23:00.
  • APM Terminals: Strike from Monday 2 June at 06:00 to 23:00.

Impact on our transports

Based on the current information available, we expect the strike to have a significant impact on our operations, including train cancellations and reduced transport capacity. Our Customer Service team is in direct contact with the affected customers and ports.

We are currently working with a two-day forward planning horizon to enable proactive adjustments and swift resumption of normal traffic operations should the strike be called off.

We are closely monitoring the situation in cooperation with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv) and will continue to provide updates through our established communication channels.

Green Cargo will invoke Force Majeure for all transport services already affected, as well as for those that may be disrupted as a result of the strike.
