Traffic disruptions in the north continue to affect Green Cargo’s operations

The major traffic disruption in northern Norrland continues to impact our services. Two out of three routes remain closed, resulting in limitations and changes to our transports.

We are rerouting shipments where possible and exploring alternative solutions together with our customers. Unfortunately, the situation also means that some transports will need to be cancelled.

Rerouting leads to longer transit times and affects our planning of locomotives, wagons, and personnel. The timetable process is particularly challenging due to short timeframes and updates from the Swedish Transport Administration, which complicates our planning and may require rapid changes to already scheduled transports.

In addition, the Swedish Transport Administration is carrying out nighttime track maintenance between Örnsköldsvik–Gimonäs/Gimonäs–Umeå, which is on the only viable diversion route. This further limits our ability to operate transports to the extent the situation requires.

We maintain close dialogue with the Swedish Transport Administration to continuously highlight our needs and contribute to solutions.
