Strike warning in Swedish harbors

The Dockworkers' Union announces a strike in the RoRo terminal in Gothenburg and the Port of Helsingborg from Thursday July 6 to and including Tuesday July 11. At the same time, overtime, new employment and hiring blockades are announced in Port of Halland. In the second step, a ban on use applies to all traffic to APM Terminals in Gothenburg from July 9 through July 11.

As a part of an ongoing dispute, the Dockworkers' Union (Hamnarbetarförbundet) has given an advance warning of industrial action in two stages.

The first stage affects the Port of Helsingborg and Gothenburg RoRo Terminal. The strike further includes a blockade of overtime, new employment, and employment of temporary staff in the Ports of Halland. The strike is set to start July 6 and ends July 11.

The second stage affects APM Terminals Gothenburg and SCA Logistics in Holmsund. The strike further includes a blockade of overtime, new employment, and employment of temporary staff for SCA Logistics in Sundsvall. The strike is set to start July 9 and ends July 11.

Based on the information Green Cargo has today, a potential strike would have a larger impact on our transports.

In the first stage, all wagon load and intermodal traffic will be stopped to and from the Port of Helsingborg and Gothenburg RoRo Terminal starting June 30. Block trains operates according to its schedule but can be affected as early as July 4.

Green Cargo is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv) and will continuously share information through our established communication channels.

Green Cargo will claim force majeure for all traffic impacted by the announced strike.
