Publication date:
The Swedish Transport Administration closes certain sections of the railway network due to the risk of undermining and demolished railway embankments
As a result of the current weather conditions with heavy rainfall and high-water flows, the Swedish Transport Administration closes certain sections where there is a risk of undermining and demolished railway embankments. Green Cargo's traffic on affected routes will be redirected to alternative routes to the extent that we can secure resources and gain access to track capacity.
Closed sections at the moment:
- Viskadal Railway (Borås to Varberg)
- Dalabanan (Avesta-Krylbo to Borlänge)
- Siljansbanan (Borlänge to Mora)
- Ostkustbanan (Hudiksvall to Sundsvall - previous derailment SJ on Monday)
- Mittbanan (Sundsvall to Ånge)
Norway has also closed certain sections, including east from Oslo towards Kongsvinger.
Green Cargo is in constant dialogue with the Swedish Transport Administration to get continuous forecasts for how long the sections will be closed to find out how this affects our traffic and if we can reroute our transports, but it is likely that the sections will be closed for the next 24/7.
